We have a long history of producing award-winning Provence rosé and English Sparkling Wines, and with an extensive infrastructure, both in France and the UK we are able to harness the finest talent in all areas of our business, to deliver exceptional products to the UK market.
We will be the largest producer of wine in each of these regions by 2030, with a combined production of over 10 million bottles annually.

Three things struck me as distinctive about the role as Farm Manager at Silverhand Estate when the agent called with the outline of the opportunity. The first was the nature of the business, challenging the stovepipes of food production and nature restoration by delivering both things together. Second was the resonance with my previous agricultural experience which was native-breed and horticultural-shaped, transposing hops for vines and Sussex for Longhorn cattle.
The third was the prominence of the business’ membership of the Armed Forces Covenant scheme, one of the symptoms of which was a significant number of Nepali nationals being part of the Silverhand team. As a retired member of the Brigade of Gurkhas this was a particularly rare and welcome discovery. My first career was with the Royal Gurkha Rifles, commissioning into the regiment from the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst in 2005, serving in Brunei and the UK and deployed on operations in Bosnia and Afghanistan. The Nepali contingent at Silverhand had been recruited through Ram Galami, the Gurkha advisor at the Forces Employment Charity, with which the business now has a strong relationship.
The moto of one of my regiment’s parent units was ‘hami jasto kohi chhaina’ (‘there is no-one quite like us’). The industriousness, robustness and geniality for which the Gurkhas are renowned is similarly evident in the Nepali contingent and they are held in the highest esteem by the vineyard operations and wider Silverhand teams as a result.
For me personally it is a joy to punctuate my day with encounters with what feel already like old friends and to share a laugh over enthusiastic but rusty renditions of my Nepali language training. I hope the encouragement is mutual and look forward to strengthening and developing the bond with this important part of our business community.
